The course provides an introduction to various physical mechanisms that operate in the living cell, with emphasis on feedback mechanisms and the preservation of Homeostasis: Chemical and hysical introduction, introduction to soft-matter, membranes,two satte systems, energy and entropy in cells, ionic channels, Nerns potential, action potentials in nerve and muscle cells, mechanical events, transport of molecules along cells, Homeostasis, measurement and imaging techniques in cellular biophysics research. If time allows the course includes treatment of networks of cells (nervous or immune systems)
